  1. 5 out of 5

Great log splitter. We paid $1350 delivered and for the money nothing compares from what we seen. Fast shipping was a bonus!

  2. 5 out of 5

Did a lot of research before buying a splitter. Very happy with my choice!! Split a good bunch and it works great. Goes through anything. Auto return works great. Easy to assemble. For the money it’s the best I have found!

  3. 5 out of 5

Looked at and compared splitters for several months. We burn only oak( red and overcup). After an hour of splitting, I was very impressed. Split anything I put on it. Several pieces were very knotty. I use to leave these pieces in the woods, not anymore.

  4. 1 out of 5

I recently purchased a 27 ton dirtyhands splitter. I have split less than 3 cords of oak, elm, and wild cherry and the splitter has lost most of its power due to engine issue. It will only split small straight grain wood.

  5. 4 out of 5

After hundreds of years of splitting wood by hand, (or so it seems!) and reviewing many splitters on line, I saw, reviewed, bought and have now used the DHT 27 ton splitter. It took the engine about 10 turns to crank the first time, but after that it cranks on faster. Good for the money.

  6. 2 out of 5

Log splitter came very fast. I have been having trouble with the SH265 6.5HP Kohler engine. I wish I would have done a bit more research as this engine has been known to have problems i guess. If I could do it again would have went the the 28 ton with the 9.5 Command Pro motor and the faster pump.

  7. 4 out of 5

Have about twenty or so hours on the splitter now… Cuts though even the nasty knotty oak I have found. Runs good and the ram is fast enough to suit me. I believe this machine was a good buy for the price. Only problem I have with it is in cold temperatures. When it sits out in the teens overnight, it is near impossible to start. Once started and warmed up no problem. Some sort of clutch on the pump would be a help.

Bought this unit at a local store and it was trash got it hooked to a truck and started home stopped for gas and it was leaning really bad found safety pin for the pivot pin was not installed and pivot pin fell out. Got home and filled with oil and gas and when I pulled it water and rust came out exhaust. Took out spark plug and cylinder had a lot of water rust and a little oil residue into it. Cleaned it out by pulling 40 plus times and reinstalled spark plug. Tried to start it for 45 mins and it would not even spudder nothing at all even tried a little starting fluid and nothing switch was on and oil full it also had a light spark when tested but just wouldn’t do anything. When I returned it the guy pulled the plug and said oh that’s bad he saw same thing I did. The rust probably took out piston rings and or cylinder walls. The splitter it self looked built like others but was sloppy at pins for lifting it. It was a Kohler motor on this unit so mainly a Kohler problem

  9. 5 out of 5

We have had this unit about 7 months and could not be happier with the service from WoodSplitters Direct. Packaging and shipping were awesome. Nothing stops the splitter. We have about 15 cords through it.

  10. 5 out of 5

I purchased the 27 ton about 6 months ago and I am very pleased with its performance.it just plows through any kind of wood with ease vey good splitter for the money you cant loose with this piece of equipment

  11. 5 out of 5

Works better than I could have hoped. We split with an axe or rental splitter for years. This has made the job of getting ready for the winter so much easier that we are done with our chores 3 months ahead of normal. Bring winter on…

  12. 5 out of 5

Great product, fair price….happy. Like others have noted the DHT splitters are awesome…just pick the unit that best fits your needs.

  13. 5 out of 5

I searched around and read a lot of reviews on DHT. They seem to be the best log splitter company out there and reviews on their service are great. I have used this unit for about 20 hrs and 15 cords of hard wood. Very pleased

  14. 5 out of 5

I have used this splitter a few times now and am impressed with both the unit and the service. Shipping was fast and assembly was fairly easy, even for one person. Once assembled it started on the second pull, and since then has started on the first pull every time. The splitter tears through everything I have thrown at it, and the log cradle is a nice feature. My only suggestion for improvement is the jack, it would be nice to have one that you can adjust the height like most boat trailers. It is awkward to hitch up to a vehicle when the hitch ball is lower than the splitter. I will be replacing the jack soon.

  15. 5 out of 5

This is a good one for the money. I split some very big logs with knots.

It first started on the 2nd pull on a 60 degree day. Give it a full minute for carb to fill up with gas for easier starting. I agree with others about being cold natured in very cold weather. It takes 5-6 pulls in 30 degrees. Also be sure to run gas stabilizer in your gas always. When finished for the season run it out of gas so it has less chance of gas going bad and being hard to start next year, even with stabilizer. Buy a good cover unless you store it inside.

I have owned this model for just about 5 years. It has performed very well. I have some issues with the suction and return hoses leaking, but beyond that you cannot beat the performance. The 27 ton splits nearly everything you can put on it with relative ease. It handles the 4 way wedge very well also.
