We bought one of these bad boys about a week ago and it was just delivered yesterday. I can’t believe how much power this brute has! I first went to work on the logs that my 3 ton electric/hydraulic couldn’t handle and to my surprise, wham bam it’s done! Believe me, I was very surprised at the way this splitter handled these 14″ logs. Cherry can be a difficult wood to split. It’s often “stringy” when not real dry. I’m not going to tell you it didn’t struggle with some of these logs, but the point is it did split them. This is a damn nice little machine. You’re not going to go wrong with it either!

First one stuttered and sounded like it was grinding gears against metal. Push road jammed in open position. Returned it to the store. Second one stutters and push rod needs to be manually returned – not something that feels safe to me. The clank of metal gears and the inconsistency of performance make me wonder how long the second one will last.

first log i tried it would grind and not engage and hurt my hand terrible…i been splitting wood for over 40 years and have had many splitters..the return quit working after the second split..i mean this thing is junk,..i called the number in the owners manual ( not wood splitters direct) and the guy was so helpful..he said keep the machine for parts and he is sending another so we will see…hopefully i just got a bad one..i will update this after i get the other one..it is fast and moves real easy around and is real quiet also but omg my hand kills from trying to get the fly wheel to engage. there is no way i could ever keep splitting with this thing..i found out it is made in china…lol

For some reason your site will not let me select 1 star….if I could select 0 stars I would. This thing is cheap chinese junk…. It lasted about 30 minutes. Sending it back to the manufacturer will cost me as much as the product itself. Avoid at all cost.

I have split american elm. Red oak black cherry.bitternut hickory.black locust.and many other soft woods with this tank.a great splitter for the price.

best tool for wood splitting , you can split wood up to the exact size of the opening and it will still split . You do have to work it tho . Best part too , it`s very quiet compared to hydraulic… The guide rails are the weakest point , so don`t go slamming logs down on it , and watch for slinters getting wedged in the track , that will shut you down . If you have tools it`s an easy fix !!
