This Horizontal Vertical 20 ton log splitter is built for both configurations. This allows you to just slide the log over while in the vertical position rather then lifting them on the beam.  Just plug this 2HP unit into your existing outlet and begin splitting.

We recommend using a 25 amp dedicated circuit breaker to run this log splitter with 110 VAC.

How does this compare to a gas powered 20 ton unit? Answer: The only difference is no more filling up with gas and oil, and no fumes! This is the same unit we run with gas motors as well, as a matter of fact if you decided to switch to gas motor a few years down the road you can do that. Just swap out the motors.

With the high torque of these electric motors, you are not giving up any power, just the maintenance of owning a gas log splitter. This log splitter comes with a full tow package and is road towable.  Complete one year warranty on all parts.

This log splitter is customizable with the following options:

  • 4 Way Wedge - Split logs into 4 pieces. 4 way wedge just slips over existing single wedge. (Can slide on and off quickly, choose 4 way wedge option to see picture) 4 way wedge will reduce opening size by 2".
  • Log Cradles - HV units catch falling wood saving you from bending over and picking up split wood off the ground and splitting again. Just imagine the amount of extra times you could save from bending over picking up firewood to split again from each cord of wood? Cradles are bolted on the beam and can be remove at anytime.

Please note these log splitters are delivered via freight truck. You will be responsible to take the crate off the back of the truck unless you select lift gate delivery as an option. Some assembly is required.

Love how it works, but it is structurally unsound.

I have had this product for about 20 years. I love the electric motor. Low noise, zero maintenance, less heat and no fumes. I do not like the lack of a switch, filter or log release barrier. But my biggest gripe is structural. The boss holding the rear clevis connection to the beam is welded on. The beam failed at the weld point.I got that repaired with added reinforcement. Next, the beam itself failed at the point where the ram guide is attached; roughly in the middle of the beam. I got that welded back and had 1/4" plate added along both sides. Recently, the hydraulic cylinder rod bent. It was only 1.5" diameter. Most log splitters in the 20-25 ton range have 1.75" rods, which are 59% stronger in bending. I am replacing the cylinder with one with a 2" rod, which is 2.37 times as strong as 1.5" in bending. Hopefully, nothing else will break.

I purchased the vertical/horiz...

I purchased the vertical/horizontal unit, and had it wired for 220V with the 3HP motor. It was delivered promptly and in perfect order. It takes only about 45 minutes to assemble. Don't underestimate the weight. Definitely have at least 2 people present to assemble it. Added about 9.5 gallons of hydraulic fluid, plugged it in, and ready to go. I haven't found anything that it can't split. Love the electric option, virtually no maintenance, quiet, and no fumes! Definetely go for the vertical/horizonal option, as well as the optional log cradles. Since this beast can split almost anything, you are not going to want to lift 24" diameter tree trunks up onto the beam, simply roll them over, tip them up and split away. Great choice!
