Replace a worn or leaking cylinder on a compatible MTD-style log splitter with the WSD31-118 Hydraulic Log Splitter Cylinder. This OEM-grade replacement features a 4.5-inch bore, 24-inch stroke, and trunnion-mount configuration commonly used on select Troy-Bilt, Cub Cadet, Bolens, and MTD log splitters.

Unlike Tool Tuff model WSD31-117, this version includes a valve-support bracket near the piston end. The bracket can support compatible control-valve installations but does not have to be used on earlier machines that mount the valve separately.

Valve-Support Bracket

This cylinder includes a factory-installed bracket near the piston end for supporting a compatible hydraulic control valve and operating handle.

Choose this version when the existing cylinder has a similar bracket or when the splitter’s valve assembly requires cylinder-mounted support.

Tool Tuff also offers model 31-117, which uses the same general 4.5-inch-bore, 24-inch-stroke trunnion configuration but does not include the valve-support bracket.

Hydraulic Connections

The cylinder uses two different hydraulic connections:

• SAE-8 ORB female port
• JIC-8 male connection

Confirm that the existing hoses and fittings match these connection types. NPT, JIC, and ORB fittings are not automatically interchangeable, even when their nominal sizes appear similar.
