Aftermarket Replacement Valve for Compatible DHT 22–35 Ton Log Splitters

Restore the hydraulic operation of your discontinued Dirty Hand Tools log splitter with this aftermarket replacement for DHT control valve part number 100034.

This single-spool, open-center hydraulic valve controls the splitter cylinder’s extend, neutral, and retract functions. The retract position includes an automatic-return detent that holds the valve open while the cylinder retracts and then releases the control handle back to neutral at the end of the return stroke.

Rated for hydraulic flow up to 25 GPM and pressure up to 3,500 PSI, this valve can replace DHT 100034 on compatible Dirty Hand Tools 22, 25, 27, 28, 30, and 35-ton hydraulic log splitters.

Compatible Dirty Hand Tools Log Splitters

This valve can be used as a replacement for DHT part number 100034 on compatible former Dirty Hand Tools log splitters with the following tonnage ratings:

  • 22-ton DHT log splitters
  • 25-ton DHT log splitters
  • 27-ton DHT log splitters
  • 28-ton DHT log splitters
  • 30-ton DHT log splitters
  • 35-ton DHT log splitters

Important Fitment Notice

Dirty Hand Tools produced multiple splitter configurations and may have changed components during different production periods. Splitter tonnage alone does not guarantee fitment.

Before ordering, verify that your original valve is DHT part number 100034 and compare:

  • Inlet and outlet port locations
  • Port thread sizes
  • Hydraulic-flow requirements
  • Pressure requirements
  • Work-port locations
  • Hose routing
  • Mounting arrangement
  • Control-handle orientation
  • Hydraulic schematic stamped on the valve

If the identification label is missing, compare the replacement valve carefully with the original valve from both sides.

Key Features

Replacement for DHT Part 100034

Designed specifically as an aftermarket replacement option for compatible Dirty Hand Tools log splitter control valve 100034.

25 GPM Maximum Flow

Supports hydraulic flow rates up to 25 gallons per minute, making it suitable for the hydraulic systems used on many DHT 22 through 35-ton splitters.

3,500 PSI Maximum Pressure Rating

Built to operate in demanding log-splitter hydraulic systems with pressures up to 3,500 PSI.

Automatic-Return Detent

The retract position locks into detent so the operator does not have to hold the handle while the cylinder returns. The handle automatically releases to neutral when the cylinder completes its return stroke.

Adjustable Detent Pressure

The return-detent pressure is factory set at approximately 700 PSI and can be adjusted when required. The threaded detent end cap also allows compensation for normal wear within the detent mechanism.

Adjustable Relief Valve

The hydraulic relief valve is factory set at approximately 3,100 PSI and can be adjusted to match the splitter manufacturer’s specified system pressure.

Pressure adjustments should only be performed by someone experienced with hydraulic systems and equipped with an appropriate pressure gauge.

Open-Center Hydraulic Circuit

The open-center configuration allows hydraulic fluid to circulate through the valve and return to the reservoir when the control handle is in neutral.

Single-Spool Operation

Provides the three standard log-splitter control positions:

  • Extend: Manually advances the cylinder and splitting wedge
  • Neutral: Stops cylinder movement while allowing hydraulic fluid to circulate
  • Retract/Detent: Retracts the cylinder and automatically releases to neutral at the end of the return stroke

A7 Port Configuration

This replacement uses the A7 port arrangement. Similar-looking hydraulic splitter valves may place the pressure-inlet and tank-return ports on opposite sides.

Do not identify the correct valve by appearance alone. Compare the port locations and hydraulic schematic with the original DHT valve before ordering.

Connecting the pressure hose to the tank port—or the tank hose to the pressure port—can damage the valve, pump, hoses, cylinder, or other hydraulic components.

Why Replace the Original Valve?

A replacement control valve may be needed when the original DHT valve:

  • Leaks externally
  • Allows the cylinder to drift
  • Sticks in one position
  • Will not remain in return detent
  • Does not release from detent correctly
  • Has a bent or damaged control handle
  • Causes slow or erratic cylinder movement
  • Has a damaged relief or detent mechanism
  • Can no longer be repaired economically

Hydraulic symptoms may also be caused by the pump, cylinder seals, clogged filter, contaminated fluid, damaged hoses, incorrect fluid level, or air in the system. Diagnose the hydraulic system before replacing parts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a genuine Dirty Hand Tools valve?

No. This is an aftermarket replacement designed to replace DHT part number 100034 on compatible Dirty Hand Tools log splitters.

Which DHT log splitters can use this valve?

It can be used on compatible former DHT 22, 25, 27, 28, 30, and 35-ton log splitters originally equipped with valve part number 100034.

Because production configurations may differ, confirm the original part number, ports, hose routing, and hydraulic schematic before ordering.

Will it fit every Dirty Hand Tools splitter in those tonnages?

Fitment should not be determined by tonnage alone. The original valve must have the matching A7 port arrangement, NPT port sizes, open-center circuit, and suitable flow and pressure ratings.

What does automatic return mean?

When the handle is placed in the retract position, the valve remains in detent while the cylinder returns. At the end of the return stroke, hydraulic pressure causes the handle to release automatically back to neutral.

The extend position must still be held manually.

Is the detent adjustable?

Yes. The retract-detent pressure is adjustable and is factory set at approximately 700 PSI.

Is the hydraulic relief pressure adjustable?

Yes. The relief valve is factory set at approximately 3,100 PSI and can be adjusted when required.

Do not adjust the relief pressure without a hydraulic pressure gauge and the correct pressure specification for your splitter.

Does this valve have NPT ports?

Yes. The inlet and tank ports are 3/4-inch NPT, and both cylinder work ports are 1/2-inch NPT.

Can I reuse my original hydraulic hoses?

The original hoses may be reused if they are undamaged, correctly sized, properly rated, and have compatible fittings. Hose routing and fitting requirements should be checked before installation.

What if my ports are on the opposite sides?

Do not install this valve if its inlet and tank ports do not match the original configuration. A valve with the opposite port orientation may require a different model or extensive hose rerouting.

Can I install the valve myself?

A person experienced with hydraulic systems may be able to complete the installation. Professional installation is recommended if you are unfamiliar with hydraulic hose routing, pressure-relief adjustment, NPT fittings, or open-center circuits.
