This complete coupling combination replaces the original DHT engine-side coupler, pump-side coupler, and flexible jaw spider. Both couplers use standard square, non-tapered keyways and are designed to accommodate reasonable shaft or angular misalignment between the engine and hydraulic pump.

How the 3-Jaw Coupler Works

The coupling system connects the engine output shaft to the hydraulic pump input shaft using two interlocking metal jaw couplers separated by a flexible rubber spider.

The spider helps:

• Cushion shock loads
• Reduce vibration
• Compensate for reasonable alignment differences
• Prevent direct metal-to-metal contact during normal operation
• Transfer engine power smoothly to the hydraulic pump

If the spider becomes severely worn or damaged, the metal jaws can still engage and transfer power. However, unusual coupling noise should be treated as an indication that the coupling assembly needs immediate inspection.
