When I say WOW, just wow. This tool is amazing! It is super easy to assemble and cuts through top soil like butter. My husband and I are prepping a new firepit area and we had about 450sq ft cleared in 2.5 hours! I highly recommend.

Works like a charm with thick crabgrass on sandy soil. However! I need a metal detector, blade is quickly dinged up by all the great stuff I’ve found (building gardens at public housing) pipe wrench, butter knife, bent off metal fence posts…. mail me a new blade and I’ll be more careful?

I had about 509 sq feet of sod to remove to convert a portion of my backyard into a garden for birds. A rental power sod cutter seemed like overkill, cumbersome to get To my house because I don’t have a trailer, and frankly I don’t want to pollute if I don’t have to. No rental place in the area rents a manual and I was hesitant to spend the money to buy the Sodkicker, because I dont think I’ll use it again. But man am I glad I did. I removed 500 sq ft of sod in about 3 hours. Once you get the technique (pull back on the handles to get a little momentum on the cutting blade right before you kick the kick bar), you can cruise through lots of sod fast. I could cut it faster than someone could roll up and haul away. I’m going to see if my local rental shop wants to buy it from me. Well worth the spend without a doubt!

I'm slowly turning my front yard into a water-wise garden and didn't want to commit to multiple $$ rentals of a 300 pound machine, or 1 $$$ rental and then having the entire yard gone before I'm ready. The area is about 50 feet by 25 feet, and went through a severe drought a few years ago that left the sod patchy. This has been a great option for me, a 40 year old woman with sports-injured legs. Put it together in 20 minutes with a couple of wrenches. I love that it's not a complicated gas machine.

The tool has worked great, and is well worth the money for my ongoing project. The dead areas didn't roll up perfectly but that's fine. Hauling sod is a slog either way. Something that has really helped me is wearing work boots with tough soles. Of course the instructions recommend this but I started in my gardening shoes (old sneakers) and almost blew my ankle out. My fault. Other than that, it's a workout but since I own it I can take the time I need.

I am xeriscaping a formerly heavily irrigated grass yard in a desert climate. This sod kicker has been an indispensable help clearing out all the sod. Yes, it does take significant effort and you will improve with some practice with this tool but it can definitely do the job! Check out this massive pile of dead sod I have removed in the photo. If that doesn’t excite you, nothing will! I have about that much more to do still but I have 100% confidence in this thing.

Gets the job done without having to rent sod remover

Solid piece of equipment. Easy to assemble. And worked great on my sod replacement project. Saved me a lot of hard work with a shovel and did an even job of taking out the sod level.

Monkey brain had to figure out how to get it to work. Recommend watching some videos. The big realization was to pull it back before the next kick so you build up momentum and aren't stuck on anything. After that I cleared a whole side yard in under an hour. I once did the same thing at another house with a shovel, and it was several evenings. So far it has been worth the purchase.

Years ago when I wasn't even a teen I remember my dad had a sod kicker that I used to play with and actually did some work with as I got older. Time passed and now I find I have been removing sod for odd projects around the house, too much frankly. That's when I thought of my old sod kicker that I wished I still had, I found this one and had to have it. I put it to action immediately and found my life just got easier. Pulling sod with my new kicker is so easy, just take your time and learn the feel of the blade cutting. You can actually adjust how deep you cut if you don't want to take the full two inches. Thanks old friend for saving me from an aching back.

I got this to speed up the process of removing grass for my landscaping business. At first, I thought it wasn’t any better than using a shovel, but when I understood the correct angle, I could see a night & day upgrade.

Great product

After a bit of a learning curve, this has become one of my favorite lawn tools. It has permitted me to transform my back yard into a garden paradise. Great solid lawn tool. Burns lots of calories as a side benefit. Best used when lawn is not extremely dry

I put in a garden that would have taken weeks to dig with a shovel. With the sod kicker, it just took an hour. it was easy to roll up the sod and roll it out where I wanted more lawn.

Was still a bit of work but far less than a shovel. Sod cuts were uniform, easy to roll up and plant elsewhere. I am very, very pleased with this tool.

Works great for what I needed

I watched a couple YouTube videos (mostly of women working in their garden) and was amazed how quickly they assembled the tool and cleared sod in an afternoon.

We have a large front lawn that we plan to rewild/no mow with native nutrients for pollinators. This tool is the only human-powered tool that can make that dream a reality.

We will typically rent a sod cutter, but for smaller jobs, this comes in handy!!

This is a good quality manual sod cutter. Not too hard to use but takes a little strength.I was happy to find one for sale. They are not easy to find and it is good quality

Makes removing sod quick and relatively easy. Great for creating flower beds or gardens. After extensive research this was the only product like this on the market. Very solid and heavy duty piece of equipment. Definitely would recommend.

I truly feel bad for anyone using a spade shovel to remove sod. What a nightmare when a tool like this exists.

works great. My wife and I both used it to cut sod, and to take down some high spots after the sod was removed.

My husband was impressed with the quality when he put it together for me. Unfortunately it’s useless with clay soil. I tried a variety of different positions and had another person try too. No luck at all! I got about 3” pulled up before we threw in the towel and had to have heavy equipment come in. I wish it could have worked like I saw how it could in videos!
