Starter-Side Exhaust • Fits Select Intek, ELS & Professional Series V-Twins • Fully Aluminized Construction • Excludes Vanguard
Replace a worn or damaged exhaust system with the MUF0626R Starter-Side Muffler for select Briggs & Stratton V-Twin engines. Designed for compatible Intek, ELS, and Professional Series engines, this muffler routes the exhaust toward the starter side of the engine while keeping the exhaust assembly above the mounting base on compatible vertical-mount applications.
Built for demanding small-engine applications, the MUF0626R features a fully aluminized steel muffler body, header, and tailpipe along with cold-rolled steel flanges for heat resistance and durability.
Key Features & Benefits
-
Starter-Side Exhaust Configuration
Designed so the exhaust exits from the starter side of compatible Briggs & Stratton V-Twin engines. -
Fits Select Briggs & Stratton V-Twins
Intended for compatible Intek, ELS, and Professional Series engines. -
Above-Plane Exhaust Design
On compatible vertical-mount engines, the muffler and exhaust remain above the engine mounting base. -
Fully Aluminized Construction
Muffler body, header, and tailpipe are made from aluminized steel for improved resistance to high exhaust temperatures and corrosion. -
Cold-Rolled Steel Flanges
Heavy-duty CR steel flanges provide secure mounting to compatible engine exhaust ports. -
Complete Muffler Assembly
Integrated header, muffler body, and tailpipe provide a ready-to-install exhaust solution for compatible applications. -
Vanguard Models Excluded

Confirmed Engine Fitment
The MUF0626R is specifically listed to fit:
- 44T877-0001-G1
- 49T877-0004-G1
- 49T8777-0004-G1
Always verify the complete engine model, type, and code before ordering. Similar Briggs & Stratton V-Twin engines may use different exhaust configurations even when displacement or horsepower is similar.
Starter-Side Exhaust Configuration
The MUF0626R is the starter-side version of this muffler configuration. The exhaust outlet is positioned toward the engine starter rather than toward the oil-filter side.
This distinction is especially important when replacing an existing muffler because similar Briggs & Stratton V-Twin engines can use different exhaust orientations depending on the equipment installation.
If your application requires the oil-filter-side exhaust configuration, the corresponding MUF0626 should be considered instead.

Important Fitment Information
The MUF0626R is not universal. Do not purchase this muffler based solely on engine horsepower, displacement, or the fact that your engine is a Briggs & Stratton V-Twin.
Before ordering, verify:
- Complete engine model number
- Engine type and code
- Starter-side exhaust orientation
- Existing exhaust flange locations
- Muffler mounting configuration
- Equipment and frame clearance
- Vertical or equipment-specific installation layout
This muffler does not fit Vanguard Series engines.
NOTE: Most products require at least some assembly.
